Rule summary

  • Pro AI posts ok.: Pro AI posts ok.
  • Anti-AI posts ok.: Anti-AI posts ok.
  • Speak freely from any side but follow Reddit's Content Policy.: Speak freely from any side but follow Reddit's Content Policy.
  • No spam.: No spam.
  • No brigading from any side. Censor names of private individuals and other Subreddits before posting.: No brigading from any side. Censor names of private individuals and other Subreddits before posting.
  • NSFW allowed with spoiler.: NSFW allowed with spoiler.
  • No suggestions of violence.: No suggestions of violence.
  • No politics or religion unless explicitly connected to AI.: As long as the post is about AI, political discussion around that post is allowed in the comments. Reddit and Sub content policy still needs to be followed.
  • Censor usernames and personal information of ALL private figures. Public figures are exempt.: Censor usernames and personal information of ALL private figures. Public figures are exempt.
  • Account must be at least 7 days old to post and comment here.: In order to cut down on spam and harassment, we have a new AutoMod rule that an account must be at least 7 days old to post or comment here.
  • No crossposting. Take a screenshot, censor sub and user info and post.: In order to cut down on potential brigading, cross posts will be removed. Please repost by taking a screenshot of the post and censoring the sub name as well as the username and private info of any users.
  • This is not a sub for posting art.: To differentiate this space from art subreddits, posts featuring nothing but traditional art or AI art without contributing to broader discussion may be removed.
  • Debate at will. The floor is open.: Debate at will. The floor is open.

Works well

  • An honest opinion post about where your AI tool sits in the art debate, written to invite pushback from both sides
  • A screenshot of a notable public take on AI art, with all usernames and subreddit names censored, plus your own position in the post text
  • A question post asking the community how they would want an AI creative tool to handle attribution or consent
  • A lessons learned post about building in the AI art space, framed as a contribution to the debate rather than a product announcement
  • A discussion post sharing what you learned from users on both sides of the AI art argument

Avoid

  • Using the crosspost feature, because “No crossposting. Take a screenshot, censor sub and user info and post.” gets crossposts removed
  • Posting or commenting on an account younger than seven days, because “Account must be at least 7 days old to post and comment here.” is enforced by AutoMod
  • Sharing screenshots with usernames, subreddit names, or personal details left visible, because “No brigading from any side. Censor names of private individuals and other Subreddits before posting.” and “Censor usernames and personal information of ALL private figures. Public figures are exempt.” both apply
  • Dropping a link with no discussion attached, because “No spam.” gives moderators a clean reason to remove it
  • Posting your AI art with nothing but the image, because “This is not a sub for posting art.” says art without broader discussion may be removed
  • Wandering into politics or religion that has no AI connection, because “No politics or religion unless explicitly connected to AI.” draws the line there

What r/aiwars Is For

This community follows news and developments on every side of the AI art debate, and the description says all sides, not just one. People here post about the arguments between AI art supporters and critics, and the rules make it plain that both camps are welcome. The rules say pro AI posts are ok and anti AI posts are ok, and that you can speak freely from any side as long as you follow Reddit's content policy. This is a debate space, not a gallery. The rules even state this is not a sub for posting art, so a post of pure artwork with nothing to discuss can be removed. If you build or market something touching AI art, generative tools, or creative work, this is a room full of people who care deeply about that fight, on both sides.

Rules That Matter Before Posting

The gate you hit first is “Account must be at least 7 days old to post and comment here.”, so a fresh account cannot post at all. Then “No spam.” decides whether anything promotional survives. “No brigading from any side. Censor names of private individuals and other Subreddits before posting.” and “Censor usernames and personal information of ALL private figures. Public figures are exempt.” mean you must blur names in any screenshot. “No crossposting. Take a screenshot, censor sub and user info and post.” bans the crosspost button outright. “This is not a sub for posting art.” removes art posts that carry no discussion. Finally “No politics or religion unless explicitly connected to AI.” keeps threads on topic, and “Speak freely from any side but follow Reddit's Content Policy.” sets the floor for how you argue.

What To Post

A good post here starts an argument worth having, in the respectful sense. If you built an AI tool, share your honest take on the debate it sits inside, for example where you think the line between inspiration and copying sits, and invite people to push back. If you have data or a story from running your product, frame it as a contribution to the debate rather than a pitch. If you want to share AI art, pair it with a real question or a position so it contributes to broader discussion, as the rules require. Screenshots of interesting takes are fine, but censor every username and subreddit name first. Write like a person with a stake in the argument, not like a press release.

What To Avoid

Do not post from a new account, because the seven day rule is enforced by AutoMod. Do not use the crosspost feature, take a screenshot and censor all names instead. Never leave a username, subreddit name, or personal detail visible in a screenshot, since that reads as brigading. Do not drop a link with no discussion around it, because that is spam. Do not post your AI art on its own, because art without broader discussion may be removed. Do not drift into politics or religion unless the thread is genuinely about AI. And do not suggest violence or break Reddit's content policy, because those are the fastest ways to get removed.
