Rule summary

  • No promoting: No posting of links where you have a self interest in the content. This means any links to a organization you own, an organization you work for, or an organization has paid you to promote. In addition no posting asking for people to contact you for your services. All requests for Feedback, Ideas, Requests, or Promotions regarding software must be made in the sticky thread.
  • No Sales: The intention of this subreddit is to promote discussions about Logistics and encourage sharing of information. It is not allowed to propose the sale of a service, goods, or other transaction. It is also not allowed to request these.
  • Minimum Karma for Posting: The encourage quality contributions and genuine user discussions we require a minimum of 10 karma to be able to post. With a minimum of 5 karma from commenting within this subreddit.
  • No Posting Job Requests: No posting job requests or offers. The intent to hire someone is not allowed. There are many job boards available already, and it takes away from promoting meaningful conversations about Logistics. The only exception to this rule is genuine posts that are intended to discuss the uniqueness of a role or career advice, up to the moderator discretion.
  • Blogs / Crossposting: This subreddit is intended to generate conversations within the subreddit. Creating crossposts to redirect users to another subreddit, blog, or other location outside the subreddit is not allowed. It is OK to generate original content within the subreddit. Posting a header only with a link to content requiring users to leave the subreddit to engage is not allowed.
  • AI Posts: Posting to discuss non-product specific AI uses is OK, but it is NOT allowed to post proposals or requests for AI usages. The general rule is if your are looking to build an AI product this is not a place to request or propose it.
  • No Workflow / Elimanting Tasks posts: No posts that suggest things like "What is something you would eliminate to speed things up" type posts. This also includes other posts like "Let me know how can I improve your workflow","What would you automate", "What is one thing you wish you didn't have to do", etc. There are many of these same types of posts and its become saturated.

Works well

  • A text post about a specific challenge you hit in warehousing or transportation and how you handled it, written out fully inside the subreddit.
  • A genuine question asking practitioners how they handle a current logistics trend, such as a shift in purchasing or planning.
  • A career discussion post about what makes a particular logistics role unusual, which is the stated exception to the job posting ban.
  • A comment-first approach, where you spend time replying in existing threads about compliance or trends before ever starting your own post.
  • A discussion of non-product specific AI uses in logistics, framed as sharing your experience rather than proposing a product.

Avoid

  • Posting a link to your own blog or company site, since “Blogs / Crossposting” bans anything that pulls readers off the subreddit.
  • Asking people to contact you for your services, which “No promoting” calls out directly.
  • Pitching a product or asking about a specific tool outside the sticky thread, which “No promoting” rules out.
  • Offering or requesting any transaction, because “No Sales” bans proposing or requesting the sale of a service or goods.
  • Posting a job ad, since “No Posting Job Requests” only allows genuine discussion of a role or career advice.
  • Sharing your software in hopes of feedback outside the sticky thread, which “No promoting” sends there instead of the feed.

What r/logistics Is For

This is a general discussion community for all things logistics. The description covers a wide spread of topics, including transportation, compliance, warehousing, purchasing and planning, and much more. People here talk about current trends, challenges, and insights from their day to day work in the field. The community is built for conversation between practitioners, not for companies talking at them. The rules make it clear the intent is genuine user discussions and meaningful conversations about logistics. If you work in supply chain, warehousing, freight, or planning, this is a room full of peers. If you arrive as a marketer, you are expected to behave like a peer first.

Rules That Matter Before Posting

The rule that decides most outcomes here is “No promoting”. It bans any link where you have a self interest, meaning your own organization, one you work for, or one that paid you, and it bans posts asking people to contact you for your services. Software gets one special carve out, and that is the sticky thread, where all feedback, ideas, requests, and promotions about software must go. “No Sales” goes further and bans proposing or requesting the sale of a service, goods, or any other transaction. “Minimum Karma for Posting” requires 10 karma to post at all, with at least 5 of it earned by commenting inside this subreddit. “Blogs / Crossposting” bans crossposts and any header with a link that makes users leave the subreddit to engage, and says original content should be generated inside the subreddit. “AI Posts” allows discussion of non-product specific AI uses but bans proposals or requests for AI usages, so if you are looking to build an AI product this is not the place to pitch it. “No Posting Job Requests” bans hiring posts, with an exception for genuine posts about the uniqueness of a role or career advice, at moderator discretion. “No Workflow / Elimanting Tasks posts” bans the saturated genre of posts like what would you automate or what would you eliminate to speed things up.

What To Post

The winning format here is a text post written entirely inside the subreddit. Share a real insight from your own work, like a challenge you faced in warehousing, transportation, or planning, and what you learned from it. Ask a genuine question about a trend or a problem that invites other practitioners to share their experience. The description invites discussion of current trends, challenges, and insights, so lean into that. If you build software, keep any feedback, ideas, or promotion to the sticky thread, and treat that thread as your only channel for it. Before you post anything, earn at least 5 karma by commenting on other people's posts here, and hit the 10 karma total. Write about AI in general terms if that is genuinely relevant to the conversation, but keep it to discussion, not proposals.

What To Avoid

Do not post any link you have a self interest in, including links to your own organization, your employer, or a paid client. Do not ask people to contact you about your services. Do not propose or request the sale of anything. Do not put software feedback, ideas, requests, or promotions anywhere except the sticky thread. Do not crosspost or write a post that is just a header pointing to a blog or another location outside the subreddit. Do not pitch or request AI products, even though discussing non-product specific AI uses is fine. Do not post job requests or offers. Do not ask what people would automate, eliminate, or remove from their workflow, because that post type is explicitly called out as saturated. Do not try to post before you have 10 total karma with 5 of it from comments in this subreddit.

The rules allow discussing non-product specific AI uses, but not proposing or requesting AI usage for something you want to build.
