Custom feed vs home feed vs Popular
| What's in it | Who picks the rooms |
|---|
| Custom feed (multireddit) | Posts from only the rooms you added | You |
| Home feed | Posts from rooms you joined, plus what Reddit recommends | You and Reddit |
| Popular | Posts doing well across Reddit | Reddit |
Reddit renamed multireddits to custom feeds. The help page on Reddit expressions still lists the old names, multis and multireddits, which is why people still search for them.
What it means for a marketer
Make one custom feed per audience: your five buyer rooms in one, competitor and category rooms in another. Sort it by new and you have a quiet watchlist that doesn't fill your home feed with memes, and that a teammate can follow if you make it public. It is a manual version of what monitoring tools do, and for a handful of rooms it is often enough. Just remember a feed only shows posts. It won't catch the comment three replies down where someone names your category.
