Rule summary

  • No off-topic posts: All posts and comments should relate to Financial Independence and Retirement (early optional) outside of your country of origin or professional activity.
  • No spam or self-promotion: Absolutely no spam. This subreddit is also not a forum to increase your followers, readers, likes, or in any other way seek to draw attention to a blog, site, social media account, or business. If something you have written or produced is extremely relevant in response to a question, it's ok to link yourself... sparingly.
  • No personal attacks: It is ok to debate or argue with others. It is not ok to attack them personally. Attack an argument on its merits, not the person making it.
  • No misinformation: Posts and comments should be factual. Misinformation or verifiably false statements will be removed.
  • Don't be a jerk: This rule shouldn't require explanation. Don't deride others personally, don't put down their choices. If you have a negative opinion on something, express it respectfully, and where possible, citing sources.
  • No discussion of illegal activity: This is not the place to avoid how to illegally avoid taxes, get away with non-compliance with terms of visas, how to fraudulently acquire nationality, or anything else that would be considered a crime in any jurisdiction.
  • No Low-Effort Posts: No posts without a body, and no cross-posts. Posts here should be unique and topical.

Works well

  • Answering a specific question about the financial implications of moving to a particular country, and then offering a link to a detailed, relevant guide you wrote about that specific topic, provided the link is extremely relevant.
  • Sharing factual information about the costs or benefits of geographic arbitrage in a certain region, and then offering a link to a resource you created that elaborates on that specific financial topic.
  • Responding to a user who asks for advice on accelerating financial independence by sharing a concise, helpful piece of advice and then offering a link to your work only if it directly addresses their query.
  • Writing a detailed, helpful post that discusses a specific aspect of the nomadic lifestyle and ensures the post has a substantial body of text rather than just a link.

Avoid

  • Posting content that promotes your business or social media accounts just to gain followers or attention without a direct question being asked.
  • Sharing links to your own website or social media unless it is extremely relevant in response to a specific question.
  • Writing posts that are just a link or a title with no body content.
  • Offering advice on how to illegally avoid taxes, bypass visa terms, or fraudulently acquire nationality.
  • Making personal attacks on other users even if you are debating an argument they made.

Rules That Matter Before Posting
