This community is the go to resource for sales development reps and business development reps. It is also open to any sales professional focused on top of funnel work. It is an official channel of R/Sales, so it sits inside a bigger family of sales communities. The people here talk about the daily work of finding and qualifying leads, and they expect posts and comments to contribute directly to a sales development topic or something closely related. Questions about marketing, HR and workplace issues, and general questions already answered in other threads or the Wiki get removed. The description is blunt about what never belongs here: selling, recruiting, and blog spam lead to an immediate and permanent ban.
The rule that decides everything here is “Self-Promoting”, which bans every post promoting a business in any capacity, including promotion of your services, contacts, and associations, and hands out an instant permanent ban. “Selling Something” backs that up with a zero-tolerance policy on selling anything. “Shameless Affiliation Plug” means that by posting you agree you have no connections to the sites your submissions come from, so affiliate codes, referral links, coupons, and promotional offers that benefit you are banned. “Recruiting Users” blocks recruiting sales people, and it also blocks inviting users to private trials or beta testing for software or tools, with an instant permanent ban and no reversals. “Blogspam” removes anything that looks like blogspam, though the rule says a writer may post a full text version of their article without a link to the original page, at moderator discretion. On the content side, “Zero Contribution” removes anything that does not relate directly to sales development, including marketing questions and generalized questions already answered in other threads or the Wiki. “Failure To Include Details” can remove your thread if you ask for advice without including as much information as you can without revealing company or personal details.
A good post here is a detailed question or a discussion that helps reps do top of funnel work better. If you are asking for advice, include as much detail as you can about the situation, your role, what you have tried, and what specifically you are stuck on, while leaving out anything that identifies your company or the people involved. If you have written something useful, paste the whole thing into the post as full text with no link back to your site, and understand that the moderators still decide if it stays. If you are a founder, come with real experience from doing sales development yourself, not with a pitch. Share what you learned, ask a sharp and specific question, and keep it strictly on topic. There is no path here that leads through links, offers, or invites, so everything you contribute has to stand on its own as text.
Do not promote your business in any form, because that is an instant permanent ban with no exceptions. Do not sell anything, even casually, because selling brings the same ban. Do not share affiliate codes, referral links, coupons, or promotional offers that benefit you. Do not post recruiting messages or invites to private trials or beta tests for your software, because that rule has zero tolerance and bans are never reversed. Do not drop a link to your own blog post. If you wrote the article yourself, the rule says you may post a full text version with no link to the original page, and the moderators decide. Do not post about marketing, HR, or general topics that do not connect directly to sales development, and do not re-ask questions that are already answered in other threads or the Wiki. Finally, if you ask for advice, pack it with detail, because thin questions can get removed.

It is for sales development reps, business development reps, and any sales professional focused on top of funnel work.
Selling and self-promotion both lead to an instant and permanent ban, and the rules state there are no exceptions.
Yes, but the rule on blogspam says you must post the full text with no link to the original page, and the moderators decide whether it stays up.
No. The rules list /r/hiring, /r/salesjobs, and /r/betatests as the places for that.
Affiliate codes and referral links are banned, and breaking that rule is an instant permanent ban.
