Grok Bot for Reddit marketing: how to connect it

Connect Grok Bot to Reddit with one prompt, let it find threads and draft replies every morning, and keep your Reddit account out of its cloud browser.

By Anthony Riera · Published November 6, 2026

Grok Bot is an AI teammate with its own computer in the cloud. Give it a job and it keeps working while your laptop is closed.

That makes it great at Reddit research and a little dangerous with a Reddit login.

This post shows how to connect Grok Bot to Reddit the safe way, in 4 parts, with the install prompt, three prompts to run and one rule you should not skip.

Save it. The morning prompt is the one you will reuse.

Short answer

To use Grok Bot for Reddit marketing, give it a Reddit tool instead of your Reddit password. Paste one prompt that asks your Bot to add Rankhog as a custom MCP server at https://api.rankhog.com/mcp, approve the sign-in card it shows, and then ask for threads and drafts. Rankhog finds the threads, writes replies in each subreddit's style and sends from your accounts only after your OK, paced. Grok Bot needs an X Premium, Super or Ultra plan.

Key takeaways

  • Grok Bot adds a custom MCP server when you ask it in chat. That is the install.
  • Keep your Reddit account out of the Bot's cloud browser. Let a tool that paces sends do the sending.
  • Grok Bot can rerun a job on a schedule, so a morning Reddit check is one prompt away.
  • Nothing goes out until you allow it, and your Bot can't vote.
  • You need X Premium, Super or Ultra for Grok Bot.

1. What is Grok Bot, and why use it for Reddit?

Grok Bot is xAI's agent app. Each Bot works on a persistent cloud computer with a browser, files and a terminal, and you talk to it like a teammate. For Reddit that means it can watch for threads, draft replies and report back on a schedule without you at the keyboard. It also means it will happily do things on a website you didn't think through.

Here is how xAI's Grok Bot overview describes it: Bots keep their memory and files across sessions, run on macOS, Windows, Linux, iPhone and Android, and come back to you when something needs your approval. You can walk a Bot through a task once, save it as a skill, and rerun it on a schedule.

People mix up the things called Grok.

NameWhat it isCan it use Rankhog?
GrokThe chat assistant at grok.comYes, as a custom connector
Grok BotThe agent app with its own cloud computerYes, from one prompt
Grok BuildxAI's coding agent for the terminalYes, with one command
@grok on XThe reply account on XNo

This post is about Grok Bot. The Grok setup page covers all of them.

2. Why shouldn't Grok Bot log in to Reddit itself?

Because everything it does in that browser looks like a bot, from a cloud computer, at machine speed. All your Bots share one computer and its browser sessions, so one Reddit login there is a login every Bot can use. xAI's own overview says a site can still block automation, expire a session, or require a human step.

Reddit's side is just as plain. Its Responsible Builder Policy says apps and AI agents must not manipulate voting or karma, and must not spam, including posting the same content across subreddits. A Bot clicking through threads with your password can break those rules faster than you can stop it.

Give the Bot a tool that drafts and paces, and keep your Reddit password out of its browser.

Rankhog finds the threads, drafts in each subreddit's style, and sends from your accounts only after your OK. Try it free for 7 days.

3. How do I add Rankhog to Grok Bot?

Paste one prompt to your Bot, then approve the Connect card it shows. Grok Bot can add an MCP server that isn't in its catalog by URL, so the prompt is the install. Sign in to Rankhog on the card, pick your organization and what the Bot may do, and you are done.

  1. Open Grok Bot and pick the Bot that will do your Reddit work.
  2. Paste this prompt.
Add a custom MCP server called rankhog at https://api.rankhog.com/mcp.
When it asks me to sign in, wait while I approve it.
Then tell me which Rankhog products you can see. Don't send anything to Reddit.
  1. Open the Connect card your Bot shows and sign in to Rankhog there. Then tell the Bot you're done.
  2. Pick your organization and what your Bot may do. Every box starts ticked, sending included. Untick any you'd rather keep for yourself.

I untick Send for the first week. The Bot then hands me a link for each reply, and I approve it in Rankhog.

A few things from xAI's apps and computer guide are worth knowing before you start:

  • Apps are account-wide. Once Rankhog is added, every Bot on your account can use it.
  • Your sign-in stays off the Bot's computer. The tokens sit on Cursor's connector backend, and the Bot calls tools without receiving them.
  • On a team, an admin can block an app. If you see "Disabled by team admin", ask them.

If you are new to Rankhog, here is how the rest goes:

  1. Add Rankhog to your AI and sign in. Sign-up is free.
  2. Ask your AI to set up your product. It builds your free Reddit SEO report right in the chat.
  3. Start the 7-day trial from the link it gives you. A card is needed, and your Bot never pays for anything.
  4. Connect Rankhog Desktop and a Reddit account. Nothing is sent before that.

Grok on the web and Grok Build

On grok.com, open grok.com/connectors, click New Connector, then Custom, and paste the address. On Grok Business and Enterprise, an admin adds Rankhog in the xAI console first.

In the terminal, Grok Build takes one command. Type /mcps and press i to sign in.

grok mcp add --transport http rankhog https://api.rankhog.com/mcp

4. What should I ask Grok Bot to do?

Start with your free report, then save a morning routine that brings you the best threads and a draft for each. Ask it to show you before anything is sent, every time. Grok Bot is good at the boring loop: checking, drafting, reporting back. Keep the judgment, and the send button, with you.

For a new account, start here:

Set up Rankhog for my website https://example.com and get my free Reddit SEO report.
While it builds, tell me which step it's on.
When it's ready, tell me what it found and give me the link to the full report.
Then give me the link to start my trial. Don't pay for anything yourself.

Once you have a plan, this is the morning routine. Ask your Bot to save it as a skill and run it every weekday at 8:

You're connected to Rankhog, my Reddit marketing tool.
1. Tell me my products, my Reddit accounts and my credits.
2. Show today's best Reddit opportunities for my product, best first.
3. For the top 3, show me the thread, why it fits, and the draft reply. Tell me before you spend credits on a new draft.
4. Don't send or schedule anything until I pick which ones.
If you can't send from this connection, give me the link where I approve it in Rankhog.

And this one finds the threads where buyers are choosing:

Find Reddit threads from today where people compare tools like mine, and draft a reply for the best two. Show me before anything is sent.

A new draft costs 1 credit and sending is free. A Bot running every morning adds up, so tell it to stop at three.

What Rankhog does whatever the prompt says

  • By default an account sends about five comments a day, at least 30 minutes apart, at a slightly random time. Every send answer tells the Bot how pacing applied.
  • Your Bot can ask to skip pacing for one send. That choice, and its risk, are yours.
  • Nothing goes out until you allow it, and only you can turn on autopilot, in the app.
  • Two accounts from your organization never write in the same thread.
  • Your accounts never upvote each other, and your Bot can't vote at all. If you want to know why votes are the fastest route to a ban, read why buying Reddit upvotes gets accounts banned and the glossary entry on vote manipulation.

Votes are the quickest way to get an account banned, so on 1 November 2026 I took voting away from agents for good.

No tool can promise a Reddit account never gets banned. These rules keep the odds on your side, and the Reddit rules that get marketers banned cover the rest.

What I don't know yet

  • How Reddit treats replies an AI drafted and a person approved. Its policy asks apps and AI agents to register for an App label, and it doesn't say where a person-approved draft sent from your own account falls. That is why Rankhog keeps a person on every send by default.
  • When Rankhog gets a one-click Grok Bot button. That needs a listing in Cursor's marketplace, and it isn't there yet.
  • Whether the free Grok plan can add a custom connector on grok.com. xAI's docs don't say.

Who this is not for

  • People on X Plus or the free plan who want Grok Bot. You need Premium, Super or Ultra.
  • Anyone who wants a Bot to post all day from one account. Pacing will feel slow, on purpose.
  • Brand-new Reddit accounts. Warm them up before any tool sends from them.

What to do next

Here is today, in order:

  1. Paste the install prompt to your Bot and approve the Connect card.
  2. Run the report prompt with your website.
  3. Start the trial from the link your Bot gives you, then connect Rankhog Desktop and a Reddit account.
  4. Save the morning routine as a skill.
  5. Read the first three drafts before you approve any.

Paste it. Approve it. Read before you send.

Rankhog finds the threads, drafts in each subreddit's style, and sends from your accounts only after your OK. Try it free for 7 days.

Thanks for reading. Every other AI app is on the Reddit MCP page, and the wider playbook lives in Reddit automation.

Common questions

Is Grok Bot the same as @grok on X?

No. Grok Bot is xAI's agent app, with Bots that work on their own cloud computer. The @grok replies on X are a different thing, and they can't use connectors like Rankhog.

Which plan includes Grok Bot?

On The X Subscription, Grok Bot comes with Premium, Super and Ultra. Plus and the free plan don't include it. Some older Cursor, SuperGrok and X Premium+ plans include it too, per xAI's docs.

Can Grok Bot post to Reddit for me?

With Rankhog, when you ask it to: Send to Reddit starts ticked when you connect. Untick it and your Bot drafts and hands you a link, and you approve each reply in Rankhog. Sends go out through Rankhog Desktop on your computer.

Does Grok Bot see my Rankhog login?

No. xAI's docs say app logins stay off the Bot's computer: the sign-in tokens sit on Cursor's connector backend and the Bot calls the tools without receiving them.

Is there a one-click button to add Rankhog to Grok Bot?

Not yet. One-click installs for Grok Bot come from listings in Cursor's marketplace. Until Rankhog has one, the install prompt does the same job in about a minute.
