Claude Code can now run your Reddit marketing from the terminal. That is the fun part.
The scary part is that a model can write dozens of replies in the time it takes you to read one, and Reddit notices speed long before it notices quality.
This is my full setup, in 4 parts, with one command, three prompts and one rule block you can copy.
Save it. You will want the prompts again tomorrow morning.
To automate Reddit marketing with Claude Code, add a Reddit MCP server to it, then ask for threads and drafts in plain words. With Rankhog that is one command: claude mcp add --transport http --scope user rankhog https://api.rankhog.com/mcp, then /mcp to sign in. Claude Code can then build your free Reddit SEO report, list the threads where your product fits, and draft replies in each subreddit's style. Your accounts send only after you allow it, paced like a person.
It means Claude Code does the slow parts of Reddit marketing for you: finding the threads worth answering, reading each subreddit's rules, and writing a first draft. It should not mean a script that posts on its own at three in the morning. The difference is who decides what goes out.
There are three ways people wire this up. I have watched all three.
Approach
How it reaches Reddit
What usually goes wrong
Claude Code writes a browser script
Clicks through Reddit like a robot would
Machine timing, fresh logins, the same text in five places
Claude Code uses an MCP server that drafts and waits
The server reads Reddit, you approve each send
Slower, on purpose
The first two are fun weekend projects. They are also the fastest way I know to end up with a shadowban.
Rankhog is the third kind. Rankhog finds the threads, drafts in each subreddit's style, and sends from your accounts only after your OK. Try it free for 7 days.
Run one command, sign in once, and pick what Claude Code may do. The command adds Rankhog for every project on your machine. The sign-in happens in your browser, and Rankhog asks which organization to use and which permissions to grant. Every box starts ticked, sending included. Untick any you'd rather keep for yourself.
Start with the report, then run a short daily prompt, then try the one that only a coding agent can do: replies about what you just shipped. Every prompt below ends by asking Claude Code to show you before anything is sent, and it should. Tell it before it spends credits on a new draft, too.
For a new account, start with the report:
Set up Rankhog for my website https://example.com and get my free Reddit SEO report. While it builds, tell me which step it's on.When it's ready, tell me what it found and give me the link to the full report. Then give me the link to start my trial. Don't pay for anything yourself.
The report shows which Google searches put Reddit threads on page one, where your own site ranks for them, and which subreddits talk about products like yours. If you want to know why that matters, I wrote up how to use Reddit for SEO.
Once you have a plan, this is the daily prompt:
You're connected to Rankhog, my Reddit marketing tool.1. Tell me my products, my Reddit accounts and my credits.2. Show today's best Reddit opportunities for my product, best first.3. For the top 3, show me the thread, why it fits, and the draft reply. Tell me before you spend credits on a new draft.4. Don't send or schedule anything until I pick which ones.If you can't send from this connection, give me the link where I approve it in Rankhog.
And this one only a coding agent does well:
Read the last few commits in this repo and tell me what we shipped. Then find Reddit threads where people ask for it and draft replies. Show me before anything is sent.
That last one is my favorite. Claude Code reads the repo, and Rankhog finds the threads where someone is asking for the exact thing you merged on Tuesday. The draft should mention the feature only where it helps the person asking.
A draft costs 1 credit. Sending is free. If Claude Code starts drafting replies for 30 threads you will never answer, tell it to stop at three.
Keep the speed in the drafting and out of the sending. Read every draft for the first week, keep one account per thread, never let your AI vote, and let pacing space your sends like a person would. No tool can promise an account never gets banned. These are the rules that keep the odds on your side.
Here is the rule block I would paste into a project's CLAUDE.md so Claude Code follows it every session:
Reddit rules for this project:Allow: read threads, read subreddit rules, write drafts, tell me what each draft costs.Ask first: anything that sends, schedules or spends credits, any change to settings.Never: vote, post the same text twice, reply from a second account in a thread we already answered, skip pacing unless I say so for that one send.
And here is what Rankhog does underneath, whatever the prompt says:
By default an account sends about five comments a day, at least 30 minutes apart, at a slightly random time. Every send answer tells Claude Code how pacing applied.
Claude Code can ask to skip pacing for one send. That choice, and its risk, are yours.
You choose what your AI may do when you connect. Every box starts ticked, sending included; untick Send to approve each reply in Rankhog yourself. Only you can turn on autopilot, in the app.
Two accounts from your organization never write in the same thread. Two of your accounts agreeing with each other is the oldest trick moderators look for.
Your accounts never upvote each other, and Claude Code can't vote at all. That keeps you far from vote manipulation.
Votes are the quickest way to get an account banned, so on 1 November 2026 I took voting away from agents for good. Warm-up keeps its own votes. Your AI gets none.
Yes. Scripts and CI jobs use an organization API key instead of the browser sign-in. An owner or admin makes the key in Rankhog under Settings, API keys, and it belongs to your organization. Put it in RANKHOG_API_KEY first, then add Rankhog with the key in a header.
A key reads and drafts. It can't set up a new product, so sign in once for that. Sending from a key needs an owner to pick the automation preset when they make it. A nightly job that drafts and sends you a summary is a good use. Keep the sending with a person.
Reddit's Responsible Builder Policy asks apps, bots and AI agents that use Reddit data to register for an App label, and it bans automated spam and posting the same content across subreddits. A reply your AI drafted, you edited and approved, and your own account sent at a human pace is not what that policy was written about, but Reddit hasn't spelled out where it falls.
That is one reason Rankhog keeps a person on every send by default. If Reddit says more, I will update this post.
I also can't tell you how good your drafts will be on day one. Read them, edit them, and tell Rankhog what to cut.
Not on its own. It needs a tool that can reach Reddit. With Rankhog, Claude Code drafts, and a reply goes out when you ask it to, because Send to Reddit starts ticked when you connect. Untick that box and it gives you a link to approve each reply in Rankhog.
Does Claude Code see my Reddit password?
No. Rankhog never hands your AI a Reddit password or login. Approved replies go out through Rankhog Desktop on your computer, from the Reddit account you connected there.
Is there an official Reddit MCP for Claude Code?
No. Reddit hasn't released an MCP server for reading or posting. The servers people use are built by others, and each one reaches Reddit its own way, so check how before you connect one to your accounts.
How much does a draft cost?
A new draft costs 1 credit and sending it is free. Your AI can't buy credits, and by default it can spend at most 100 credits a month unless a person raises that limit in Rankhog.
Do I have to keep the terminal open?
No. Once you approve a reply, Rankhog schedules it inside the account's pacing and sends it through Rankhog Desktop. Desktop needs to be running, the terminal does not.
