- No spam or off-topic posts: Please talk about AI or AI related topics like robotics, machine learning algorithms, computer hardware, etc. Do not use clickbait, generic, sensationalized, one word, misleading, or link addresses in titles, etc. Describe what your post is about. Use concise, accurate titles.
- No selling: No selling your own products or anything in general. It's sketchy and hard to enforce. This also includes crypto, job offers, and other unverifiable content of the like.
- Low-effort / low-quality content: Low effort/quality posts can be very subjective. Low effort content can include things like sloppy writing/editing of posts, lazy memes or humor posts, links to low-quality blog posts/videos, or sharing dumps of your personal LLM conversations. We use mod discretion to decide if content meets the standards of quality and relevance to keep the sub interesting.
- NSFW content: Discussion or news about how it relates to AI is fine, just no erotic content, graphic violence, etc.
- Not an AI art gallery: This is a space for sharing/discussion of AI research, news, tutorials, and politics/philosophy. It is not a venue for sharing AI art/video, whether that is low quality "slop" (which also violates rule #5) or high quality, creative AI art. This rule is not a rejection of AI art in general. But there are better subs for you to share your art (e.g. r/aiArt or r/aiVideo). However, sharing news/research from the field of AI media synthesis, or useful educational content about it is always welcome.
- Not your anti-AI soapbox: This is a forum for sharing news, research and other information about developments in AI/ML. It is not a place to rant about how much you hate AI, attack people for using AI, post low quality "AI bad" opinion pieces, or spread anti-AI misinformation. High-quality, factually substantiated articles that analyze specific harmful uses of AI (mass surveillance, propaganda, etc) are still welcome. But this sub is not the place for generalized AI hate. Perhaps r/antiAI would be a better fit ...
- No false/misleading content: There is a lot of disinformation out there about AI. Some of this is overblown AI industry hype. Some of it is anti-AI entertainment propaganda. Some of it is just sloppy reasoning by Internet pundits and Tiktok influencers. None of it is welcome here. Misleading content (including headlines) will be removed. This sub will not be a platform for disinformation.
- No tool requests / reading material requests: Posts that are simply "What's the best tool for ____?" or "Where should I learn about ____?" are better suited for a web search or tech support forum. Besides the fact that the majority of these posts are low effort and add little value for others, they also serve as a convenient springboard for spammers to advertise their products/blogs. There are other subs like r/MLQuestions that are more suited for beginner Q&A questions about which tools to use, and finding educational materials.
- Automod: If you're about to Modmail us about your post being removed when you feel you've followed the other rules, it's most likely because of [AutoMod](https://www.reddit.com/wiki/automoderator/). Basically it helps combat spammers, spambots, scammers, and trolls- this sub is excessively prone to those. Also, link your post or comment in the Modmail for review. Thanks. Works well
- Sharing a well written article or tutorial about an AI development, with a clear and accurate title that describes the content
- Posting genuine AI news or research and then joining the comment discussion as a participant, not a promoter
- Answering questions in existing threads about AI topics to build history before you ever share your own work
- Discussing news or research from the field of AI media synthesis, which the art rule explicitly welcomes
- Asking the moderators through Modmail before posting anything promotional, as the self-promotion rule instructs
Avoid
- Posting any promotion in your very first post or comment here, because the self-promotion rule blocks it outright
- Treating the 10% promo allowance as a target instead of a ceiling, since the rule says participation comes first
- Sharing AI generated art or videos, which the community redirects to other subreddits even when the quality is high
- Asking which tool is best for a task or where to learn something, because tool requests are removed as spam bait
- Writing clickbait, one word, or misleading titles, since the community demands concise and accurate titles
- Selling your product, offering jobs, or pushing crypto in any form under the no selling rule
What r/artificial Is For
r/artificial describes itself as Reddit's home for Artificial Intelligence. The rules make clear this is a space for sharing and discussing AI research, news, tutorials, and politics or philosophy around AI. Related topics like robotics, machine learning algorithms, and computer hardware count as on topic too. The people here range from beginners to people with years of experience, and the first rule stresses that the community should be welcoming and inclusive for both. What this community is not is just as important. It is not an AI art gallery, not a place to sell things, not a place to rant against AI, and not a beginner help desk for picking tools or courses.
Rules That Matter Before Posting

What To Post
A good post here is genuine participation first and promotion last, if at all. Before you share anything of your own, spend time commenting on news and research threads so you have real history in the community. When you do post, share something the community actually values: a substantive article about AI developments, a tutorial, research worth discussing, or news about the field, including news from AI media synthesis if that is your space. Write a title that plainly describes what the post is about, with no clickbait and no link addresses. If you eventually mention your own work, keep it well under the 10% share of your activity, make it clearly relevant to an ongoing AI discussion, and Modmail the moderators first if you are unsure. If your post gets removed and you believe you followed the rules, the Automod rule tells you to link the post in a Modmail for review.
