- No self-promotion, advertising, or solicitation.: Do not post your own blog, website, app, whatever. This subreddit is for the discussion of bookkeeping, not for advertising or any other promotion, including posting affiliate/referral links. This rule extends to DM'ing users and/or asking users to DM you because of content they posted on this sub.
- No commercial spam.: Discussion of commercial products, in context, is fine. Repeated low-value pointers to the web page for a product you're shilling is not.
- Be respectful and polite - "Remember the human".: Calm, polite, adult behavior is the norm here. Name calling, abuse, racism, sexism, and the like will not be tolerated.
- This subreddit is for discussion, not hiring or job seeking.: There are lots of places where you can find bookkeepers to hire, and look for jobs. This subreddit is not for that; it's for discussion. Posts that are simply looking for work or for employees/contractors will be removed.
- Don't post "How do I get started in bookkeeping" questions or variations of it.: Sadly, we get a huge number of posts of the form "Hi, I'm a [baker / butcher / computer programmer / long-distance runner], but I've heard that bookkeeping is an easy way to MAKE MONEY FAST while working from home. How do I get started?" There are plenty of pages on the internet that will provide advice on this, but it's generally not an interesting topic to /r/Bookkeeping's members. Posts in this category will be removed.
- Regarding AI: No AI-generated posts/comments, no AI apps, or anything about AI in general.: AI-generated posts/comments are not welcome here—we want genuine human interactions. No promotion of AI-based bookkeeping software (also see Rules 1 and 2), either. In general, if it's AI-something, r/Bookkeeping isn't the place for it.
- No "research" questions for your software, online tool, etc.: Posts seeking information from users to be used in development of your software, online tool, etc. are not allowed. This includes questions like "what part of ____ do you find most challenging" and "what would you like to see in a tool that does ____". Breaking this rule may result in a permanent ban.
- Specific software recommendations are beyond the scope of this subreddit.: /r/Bookkeeping is for the discussion of bookkeeping topics. This can include discussion about various bookkeeping software as they're used by bookkeepers in their day-to-day work, but questions from business owners (and their bookkeepers) about which bookkeeping software is the best for them are beyond the scope of r/Bookkeeping and will be removed if posted.
- Moderators have discretion to remove submissions they feel are unsuitable for the sub.: The moderators of r/Bookkeeping have the discretion to remove submissions that don't directly violate any of the sub's rules but are otherwise unsuitable for the sub.

Ask for other bookkeepers professional judgment on a real bookkeeping problem.
