r/GTA describes itself as Reddit's premier GTA community, so this is a room for people who care about the Grand Theft Auto series of video games. The first rule says posts must be directly related to GTA, and anything off topic gets removed, so the whole community orbits around these games. The people posting here are players talking about the games they play, and the rules show a community that also discusses bugs, exploits, and cheats, as long as nobody encourages using them. Cheater reports are allowed too, which tells you players use this space to call out bad behaviour in the game. This is a fan community first, and there is no hint anywhere in the rules that it wants marketers, founders, or product pitches.
The rule that decides everything for a founder is “No promoting or advertising”, which says promoting a product, service, or social media account is strictly prohibited, and it makes no difference whether the content belongs to you. “Mod Discretion/Low-effort content” is the second gate, because it lets moderators remove low-effort discussions, memes, and jokes, and it demands a descriptive title plus a text body on text posts. “Posts must be directly related to GTA” removes anything off topic, so a marketing angle that drifts away from the games gets cut. “No leaks!!!” bans posting leak material, though discussing leaks without posting them is fine. “Be Civil and Respectful” sets the tone bar, with zero tolerance for hate speech and no witch-hunting. Finally, “NO SPAM!” warns that spamming leads to a permanent ban with no exceptions, and “Please refrain from spamming the sub with links to your Discord” makes Discord links a nonstarter.
Be honest with yourself first, because the promotion rule leaves almost no room for a marketing post here. What can work is showing up as a genuine member of the GTA community and building a reputation over time, with no links and no product mentions. A good post is directly about the Grand Theft Auto series, has a descriptive title, and includes a text body that gives people something real to discuss. If you know the games deeply, a thoughtful text post about game mechanics, mission design, or series history fits the room. You can discuss bugs and exploits as a topic, as long as your post never encourages anyone to use them. The survival tips say it plainly, make sure your post has a descriptive title and a text body, never share Discord links, and never promote your social media.
The fastest removal is promotion, because “No promoting or advertising” bans it outright and does not care whose product it is. Discord links are called out by name in “Please refrain from spamming the sub with links to your Discord”, so never post one. Low-effort posts, memes, jokes, and titles that do not describe the content all fall under “Mod Discretion/Low-effort content”. Off-topic posts are removed under “Posts must be directly related to GTA”. Posting leaks breaks “No leaks!!!”, and the rule notes the whole subreddit could get banned by Reddit itself for copyright reasons. Encouraging cheat use breaks “Cheats/Bugs/Exploits”, and asking for in-game money or money drops breaks “No asking for in-game money or money drops.”. Reposting anything from the last 90 days or the top 50 of all time breaks “No reposts from the last 90 days or top 50 of all time.”. Insults, harassment, hate speech, or witch-hunting break “Be Civil and Respectful”, and hate speech is a zero tolerance path to a swift ban. Spamming breaks “NO SPAM!” and earns a permanent ban with no exceptions.
