Rule summary

Rule 1 : Post Instructions: Have a specific question in mind when posting your chart. Don't expect full chart readings since they take a lot of time and effort from the astrologers so choose a subject (e.g. career, marriage, money, etc.) to not waste the reader's time. Only sidereal charts with degrees are used. Examples of bad posts : General readings/what does my chart say (low effort) , Synastry (too time consuming). Generic questions require charts too. Posts about relationships need to specify gender and be 18+.
Rule 2 : Required data for chart drawing: You can include your full birth details (date of birth , birthplace(country) , time of birth + gender) in the top comment so that astrologers can read using different configurations. For the privacy paranoid people: the chart can be used by itself to reverse estimate the birth data already, Celebs have their chart info public and they are unaffected by opinions of other people with regards to luck et al. No newborn or charts of children.
Rule 3 : banned topics and comments: This subreddit is intended for Questions and chart readings. Do not post articles or engagement content. list of topics and comments which will be removed: questions about nsfw, venting, past lives, fame, sexuality, divorce, abuse, cheating, longevity, exams, gambling, politics, conflict, depression, sex, libido, sade sati, kaal sarpa, death or abuse. do not post AI generated content. only images of charts are allowed. mutes or bans will be handed out for breaking rules. SFW content only.
Rule 4 : Link for chart drawing: if on PC : https://www.vedicastrologer.org/jh/ goto edit->birthdata and screenshot the entire screen. For mobile users : https://vaultoftheheavens.com/ChartCreatorLahiri/Welcome.aspx or http://vedicartandscience.com/chart-calculator/ to create a chart If you use another chart generator, make sure degrees are present and make sure the lagna or ascendant is clearly visible or noticeable. Dasha periods may also be given.
Rule 5 : derailing a post and mental health: comments asking for additional charts such as D9, D10 etc or asking for a new chart style such as north, south over the existing one will be considered as derailing and spam. If you are suicidal or depressed use r/suicidewatch We are astrologers, not psychologists or psychiatrists. If you are asking about your chart because of depression or other mental health issues, please seek appropriate help. We are not qualified to handle those issues here. no witch hunting posts.
Rule 6: do not chase mods or other posters for reads: We are busy and have lives. if people can't respect boundaries then we won't respect them either. do not tag moderators or other posters. Do not beg or spam for your chart to be read in others' posts. Anyone doing so will be banned. Beware and treat DMs or PMs with caution. Keep responses in the post itself.
Rule 7: Not a place to argue about astrology being fake or a psuedoscience: This is a sub based around the study of Vedic Astrology. This is not a place to debate whether or not astrology is real . Any disrespectful behavior will be removed, and if it continues will result in a ban. If you are interested in "disproving" astrology then you are free to try a subreddit like r/skeptic . astrology gets a bad rap mainly due to people skimming or skipping rules.
Rule 8 : No advertising: Please do not refer or link to your own article, video, discussion group, discord, facebook, festival, book group or other site or selling services. people selling reads will be banned. Content that is posted elsewhere is always welcome, but if it is yours, post it as an original submission. No posts or comments from any account used for selling, including seller profile whether there is a link in the post or not. NO FREE READINGS posts or posts conducting AMAs or interviews.
Rule 9 : no piracy: do not distribute or link to copyrighted content as it violates reddit TOS . propagate piracy and get instantly banned.
Rule 10 : aspiring gurus predicting doom will be banned: do not trivialize the subject or make far-fetched claims or make predictions such as "weak mind or emotionally unstable or poverty" if you cannot back it up astrologically , ideally if you do not have anything constructive to add then refrain from commenting. we have had many cases of newbie astrologers mis-using rules based on their limited understanding and creating a mess for mods to damage control.
Rule 11 : no surveys or data collection: users will not be used as guinea pigs to help forward a newbie learners teaching curve. You can use data of your friends or celebs. We do not encourage confirmation bias here.
Rule 12: divisional charts ( d9 ,d10 etc) without the D1 or rashi chart will be removed.: A chart of divisions or amsa, also groups called vargas is part of the rashi/main chart and is not read without the rashi chart. They are smaller parts or portions of varying lengths and sizes. They are not the same size as a rashi, nor are 12 twelve in number, hence they cannot be a house. Navamasa e.g. make up 4 padas/navamsa of a nakshatra, not 4 rashi of a nakshatra, and total to a number of 108, not 12. They do not make new Rashi charts nor are they read like a rashi chart.
Rule 13: don't ask for recommendations for full reads: Don't ask for recommendations of sites or astrologers or paid readings here, the subreddit does NOT endorse any astrologer. Don’t offer your services or free readings. Advertising your services is not allowed on r/vedicastrology. If you offer services (free or not), your post will be removed. Do not use this subreddit to solicit clients or subscribers, including via PM/DM. Repeat offenders will be banned.
Rule 14: astrologically incorrect posts will be removed.: Don't post questions which involve mixing different branches of astrology as they are not designed for this purpose. e.g mixing jaimini's terms like Atmakaraka with the parashara system or KP with nadi or tropical with vedic. Trans-saturnian planets are not used. This rule is also used to remove posts with poor astrological logic or analysis or representing a poor grasp of fundamentals or extremely biased posts.
Rule 15: Search the subreddit, Read the FAQ, RULES, and STICKIES. Many questions are often repeated.: Many posters or repliers ask the same question over and over again. Many posters have responded to these questions and gave answers. Please search the subreddit, read FAQ and stickies or research yourself to save time and not overshadow other posts before you make your post.

Works well

A post with a sidereal chart image showing degrees and a clear lagna, asking one specific question about career or marriage, with birth details in the top comment.
A post that includes the main rashi chart alongside any divisional charts like D9 or D10, asking a focused question about one life area.
A post that searches the subreddit first, reads the FAQ and stickies, and asks a specific chart question that has not been answered already.

Avoid

Do not post articles, videos, or engagement content.
Do not offer free readings or advertise services, sites, or social channels.
Do not post AI-generated content.
Do not ask for general readings or request synastry readings.
Do not mix different branches of astrology in your question.
Do not post divisional charts without the main rashi chart.

What r/vedicastrology Is For

This community is for the study of vedic astrology. People come here to ask specific questions about their own vedic charts, and astrologers answer those questions. The public description says it is for specific questions and vedic charts, and it tells you not to ask for general readings, not to post articles or videos, and not to solicit clients or offer free readings or advertise.

Rules That Matter Before Posting

The rules that decide whether a marketing-adjacent post survives are clear. Rule 3, "banned topics and comments", removes articles, engagement content, and AI-generated content, and only allows images of charts. Rule 8, "No advertising", bans links to your own articles, videos, discussion groups, or selling services, and bans any account used for selling. Rule 13, "don't ask for recommendations for full reads", reinforces that you cannot offer services or solicit clients, including via private message. What To Post

A good post here is a single specific question about your own vedic chart, with a sidereal chart image that shows degrees and a clearly visible lagna. You pick one subject like career, marriage, or money, and you include your birth details in the top comment if you want astrologers to read different configurations. The chart must be drawn using one of the tools the rules link to, or another generator that shows degrees and the ascendant. If you post divisional charts, you must also post the main rashi chart alongside them. For a founder doing respectful Reddit marketing, the only safe move is to participate as a genuine user with a real question, not as a promoter, because every promotional angle is banned.

What To Avoid

Avoid anything that looks like promotion or low effort.
