Rule summary

  • Use the Report Option: We rely on user reports. If you see something on the sub that violates the rules please use the report button. If you are not sure if something breaks the rules, please report it for the moderation team to review.
  • No AI, low effort posts, spamming posts.: -Unless exceptional (use of AI for disability or language barriers, etc) we do NOT allow posts or comments made by AI, written by AI, or posted from AI accounts. -Low effort posts that do not meet the min word count and keyboard smash their way through the limit is NOT ALLOWED -If your post is waiting in our queue, do NOT spam the sub with the post over and over again, it will not help and will just make the wait longer.
  • Be Good to One Another: Be good to one another. If critiquing do so constructively. Be polite and practice Reddiquette.
  • Do Not Feed the Trolls: Use the report option; do not engage. Feeding trolls attracts more.
  • Mark Posts NSFW When Appropriate: Regardless of gender, shirtless photos, underwear, swimsuit pictures, etc must all be labeled NSFW when posting. Outlines of genitalia through clothes and other graphic content such as severe injury must also be marked NSFW. Complete nudity is not allowed. Genitalia must be covered or censored completely.
  • No Harassment / Don't Be a Creep: Harassment comes in various forms. Don't be a creep. Being a creep consists of suggesting OP post in a gonewild sub, saying what you'd like to do to OP, or generally venturing away from compliments and into pervy territory. Before complimenting OP make sure it's actually a compliment of their progress and not treating them like a sexual object. If you are harassed message the mods with a screenshot then escalate to the admins. NO asking op to dm you, NO asking location, phone numbers, etc
  • No Politics / Stay On Topic: Stay on topic to the subreddit, the original post, the pictures, or the original poster's comments. Keep political debate to other subreddits regardless of your intention. Do not derail conversation. This subreddit is for discussion of healthy and sustainable weight loss methods. Posts that are rants bring negativity and often contain little to no helpful substance to our subreddit. Please those posts to r/offmychest or r/relationshipadvice.
  • No Promotion of Diet Cash Pools/Requests for Money: Do not ask for users to participate in a cash-based diet website, such as dietbet.com. Do not ask for donations or link to a crowdfunding site such as GoFundMe. Do not attempt to sell items.
  • No Self Promotion: Do not link to your own content for the purposes of generating views or traffic, as determined by the moderators based on the Reddit Self-Promotion Guidelines (https://www.reddit.com/wiki/selfpromotion) Posts, comments, and private messages promoting a product, service, or business are also prohibited. Links to discord servers posted outside of the Track with me Thursday thread will be met with a ban.
  • No Surveys: Surveys are prohibited.
  • SV/NSV, Progress, Milestone Posts Need Details: Solo posts about a victory, milestone, or progress must include details to help others achieve the same success. This is not a reflection of how "good" or "major" your achievement is, it is a reflection of the quality of the post.
  • No Promoting or Encouraging Unhealthy Weight Loss Methods: Discussion of weight loss methods that are damaging to the body and/or require supervision of a medical professional are not allowed. This rule includes, but is not limited to: VLCDs, misusing medication, grey-market/research-only products, extended fasting, disordered behaviour, inappropriate advice to underage members (counting calories, omad, fasting), etc. We are not a ED support subreddit and any ED related content will be removed, for further info, see the ED masterpost in the sidebar.
  • No Accountability Partner Posts: Stand-alone posts searching for accountability partners will be removed. Please use our Track With Me Thursday reoccurring posts instead. Posts advertising accountability groups of any kind (including group chats/chat servers) will be met with a ban.
  • No Standalone Weight Loss Medication Posts: No Standalone Weight Loss Medication Posts. This includes (but is not limited to) Ozempic, Mounjaro, Wegovy, Zepbound and Phentermine. No sharing names of medspas , online pharmacies, comparing prices, or other "how to"s on obtaining meds (other than "go see your doctor.") Please direct questions on their use to your doctor. For sub suggestions and more info please see our "weightloss medication masterpost" in the sidebar

What r/loseit Is For

This community is for people of all sizes to discuss healthy and sustainable methods of weight loss. The public description says you are welcome whether you need to lose 2 lbs or 400 lbs. The rules make clear this is a place for supportive, on-topic discussion about weight loss methods, not for rants, politics, or promotion.

Rules That Matter Before Posting

The rule that matters most for a founder is "No Self Promotion". It prohibits linking to your own content for views or traffic, and it also prohibits posts, comments, and private messages promoting a product, service, or business. The rule "No Surveys" prohibits surveys entirely. The rule "No AI, low effort posts, spamming posts." prohibits content made by AI. The rule "No Promotion of Diet Cash Pools/Requests for Money" prohibits asking users to participate in cash-based diet websites or asking for donations. The rule "No Accountability Partner Posts" says standalone posts searching for accountability partners will be removed.

What To Post

A good post here for a founder doing respectful Reddit marketing is one that does not market at all. You should participate as a person who is also on a weight loss journey, not as a founder. If you post about a milestone or progress, the rule "SV/NSV, Progress, Milestone Posts Need Details" says you must include details to help others achieve the same success. If you want to find an accountability partner, the rule "No Accountability Partner Posts" directs you to use the Track With Me Thursday thread. If you want to share a discord server, the rule "No Self Promotion" says you may only do so inside the Track with me Thursday thread. Your best move is to answer questions about healthy and sustainable weight loss with your own personal experience, and to never mention your product or business.

What To Avoid

Avoid any form of self promotion, including links to your own content, product, service, or business, as the rule "No Self Promotion" prohibits it and states that links to discord servers posted outside the Track with me Thursday thread will be met with a ban. Avoid posting surveys, as the rule "No Surveys" prohibits them. Avoid making standalone posts about weight loss medications like Ozempic or Wegovy, as the rule "No Standalone Weight Loss Medication Posts" prohibits them. Avoid using AI to write your posts or comments, as the rule "No AI, low effort posts, spamming posts." prohibits it. Avoid searching for accountability partners in standalone posts, as the rule "No Accountability Partner Posts" says they will be removed. Avoid promoting or encouraging unhealthy weight loss methods, as the rule "No Promoting or Encouraging Unhealthy Weight Loss Methods" prohibits discussion of methods that are damaging to the body or require medical supervision.
