- Rule 1 - Insults/Trolling: Be civil and respectful. r/Calgary welcomes free speech and open debate, but it must remain respectful. Name-calling, personal attacks, harassment, and trolling will be removed and may lead to a ban. Keep discussion constructive we can have healthy conversations and not call each other name. If you cannot follow this rule this is not the sub for you. Abuse toward moderators will not be tolerated, if you have a MOD problem please us MOD Mail.
- Rule 2 - Low content/low info/easily Googled: Posts that are vague, low-info, or easily answered by Google, phone call, or email may be removed at moderator discretion. This includes vague 1) “Looking for” posts (must include location and what you’ve already checked) 2) “What happened” posts 3 Review requests for services or businesses. 4) ‘Rage Bait Rants” This includes rants on Transit, Unhoused, Immigration If the post reads like a google search it will be removed Detailed post will add value to the sub, and get better answers.
- Rule 3 - Editorialized/Inaccurate/Vague Title: Be descriptive with your titles on self posts to help users understand what is inside. Vague or deceptive titled posts will be removed. News articles are to be posted headline accurate. Save your personal opinions for the comments.
- Rule 4 - Personal Information: No personal information. No personal phone numbers or addresses. No posting personal social media profiles for the purpose of "doxxing" as per Reddit Terms of Service. Anything that is Personally Identifiable Information (PII) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_data) will be removed. Posting of Names of non public figures will be removed and users will be banned.
- Rule 5 - Submissions should be directly related to or impact Calgary in some way: Posts not directly related to Calgary and the surrounding area will be removed (or approved) at the discretion of the moderators. Post should have a net benefit to the Sub. If you are posting something not easily relatable to the city, please comment on the post, and engage the community on why you did, or how it is relevant. Please refrain from posting identical articles/posts to multiple subreddits at once, and this can be flagged as spam.
- Rule 6 - Include Police Case/Occurrence Numbers for crime and "Look Crime" Post: 1. Please include a case/occurrence number for users to contact the police with for any requests for help relating to crime. This is to ensure information is passed onto the authorities, and users do not unwittingly send information to parties on the wrong side of an event. 2. "Look Crime" this kind of post will be removed unless a news article or CPS statement. We are a big City and crime does happen, please report to CPS. Post will be removed at Mods Teams discretion. 3. - Rule 9 - Hate comments: Homophopic or transphobic comments, racism, sexism, hate based and religious attacks will not be tolerated and may result in a permanent ban.
- Rule 10 - Ban Evasion: Evading a ban is not allowed. Reddit’s automated systems flag accounts that attempt to bypass a ban, and the mod team enforces these actions. This includes creating new accounts, using alternate accounts, or otherwise circumventing restrictions. All related accounts will be removed and further bans may be applied.
